Separate Tractor-Trailer Crashes Cause I-95 Closures

Two separate tractor-trailer crashes have caused closures on I-95 in Fairfield County amid the treacherous travel conditions following the arrival of a strong winter storm.

The first crash took place around 7:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 7 on I-95 southbound at the Exit 30 off-ramp in Stratford, due to a tractor-trailer down an embankment. 

The right and center lanes are expected to be closed for at least another hour as of just before 9 a.m.

The second crash is located on I-95 southbound in the area of Exit 5 and 6 in Greenwich due to a jackknifed tractor-trailer. 

Police report the roadway is shut down southbound as the tractor-trailer is removed.

State Police are urging motorists to use alternate routes and to stay off the roadways if possible.
